I'...Thank you for the well thought through comment. I'm currently researching virtual reality extensively as well as reading science fiction such as Otherland so this has given me something else to think about. How WOULD an ultimate virtual reality work? Would stairs really still exist millions of years after we have forgotten about their purpose because of living in VR full time? Would an overall ruling body have a place in a completely distributed network (even one distributed across the universe?)

I'm personally undecided, so I welcome all opinions and ideas.Stuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10835576436476674707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-783360784022336741.post-90979583265582826202008-08-05T23:34:00.000-07:002008-08-05T23:34:00.000-07:00I dont want to overgeneralize here but I think you...I dont want to overgeneralize here but I think you are doing something in this post that is common to transhuminists. You are discussing the cool, shocking, or interisting possibilities that further development of technology might provide but ignoring practical reality while doing so. I am not talking about you providing a solution to bodys rejecting implants or difficultys with infection and so forth but you are still ignoring human nature. At best transhumanists say that the increased technology will somehow allow us as a species to overcome our behavorial failings but this is a cop out. Humans have evolved in a terestrial world and so they build structures like stairs in a virtual world where they dont need them physically because they need them mentally.

You also seem to have a notion of government and the law that is heavily influenced by the MSM. Persons do not get longer prison sentences for larceny than they do for murder. Any anacdote you have heard to that effect has been striped of its facts to the point of being false. Also, I find it hard to believe your statement that an online world could exist without a government. there are to many factors to consider in both the real and virtual world for me to believe sugh a thing is possible, but then again thats the argument from omnipotence fallacy.Th' Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05836089425132225758noreply@blogger.com
